Pizza Inn, Inc. today reported earnings per share for fiscal year 2000 of 25 cents, up 9% from 23 cents in fiscal 1999. Net income was $2,884,000 versus $2,752,000, an increase of 5%, on revenues of approximately $66.3 million in both years. Fourth quarter 2000 earnings per share were 7 cents versus 7 cents for last year's comparative quarter. Net income for the fourth quarter was $719,000 versus $777,000 on revenues of $16.6 million versus $16.3 million in 1999.

Comparable chainwide same-store sales for all of fiscal 2000 were up 1.2%. Additionally, the Company opened 42 new units, resulting mainly in the replacement of older, underperforming units. For fiscal year 2001, the Company plans to open about twice as many new units (approximately 75) with more than half the new restaurants contributing to net store growth.

During the year, the Company also reported that it repurchased 1.7 million shares of its common stock in open market trades.

On August 15, 2000, there were 491 Pizza Inn locations (3 domestic company-owned, 413 domestic franchised and 75 international franchised) operating in 22 states and 16 international markets.
